Funeral Flowers

This is a very difficult time for the bereaved family and Funeral Flowers with help express emotion and sympathy to those involved.  We have tried to give some information in this site about what to select and funeral arrangements, but its best to speak to professionals such as the funeral director and florist for specific guidance.  We have added below some of the most popular and traditional funeral flowers and why you might send them.

It is usually the family who choose the coffin/casket spray, this may be in the form of a flower arrangement, wreath, letters such as a name or a simple flower spray.  Alternative flower arrangements are a cross, names, words and shapes that express the feelings and emotions of the mourners.

When sending funeral flowers or sympathy flowers keep in mind the relevance of the type of flower, size of arrangement and colour as this may have a traditional message.  For instance red roses mean enduring love, white is pure, loyal and peaceful, the larger the floral arrangement the closer the mourner, in other words if you knew them very well send a large arrangement or wreath.  Please take a look at the meaning of flowers and perhaps select a flower that is in season also.

It may not always seem appropriate to send a card with the funeral flowers you are sending, if you do please remember to sign it adding your address so mourners can thank you; here are a few messages you might want to write;

In Loving Memory - Our Deepest Condolences - Our Thoughts and Prayers are With You - With Deepest Sympathy.

Funeral flowers are considerate and thoughtful but make sure you don't make a mistake by sending the wrong type or message, keep it simple and go with traditional flowers such as Roses or Chrysanthemums these are the best and sometimes the cheapest options.  There are many flower types out there and most if not all can be used as funeral flowers but of course there is always a budget to be considering so try and get flowers that are in season.  Don't fall into the trap of cheap or discount flowers, they may offend! take a little time and talk to your florist about which would be the most appropriate funeral flower arrangement to send and what message to write on the card, i'm sure they will help.
